The Association for the Aged says hundreds of senior citizens living at 13 old age homes in and around Durban will receive their Covid-19 vaccines this week.

The Health Department kicked off Phase Two of the country's vaccine rollout programme - for people aged 60 and over - this week.

"We are encouraging our older persons to register to have the vaccines. We are mindful that it is a voluntary process, so we are in respect of their decisions to decline if they so wish.
"We are pleased that almost 76 percent of our residents have already registered for the vaccines. I think having the vaccines also enables them to have more choices in terms of interacting with people and ensuring that they are protected.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize will launch KZN's campaign at the Royal Agricultural Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday.
