Durban 'holiday scam' victims urged to come forward

KwaZulu-Natal police are asking people who've fallen victim to a local and international holiday scam to please come forward.
Megasen Chetty and Sarasvath Pillay face over a dozen charges of fraud in connection with cases opened in 2018 and 2019.

"Two suspects. aged between 38 and 47, appeared before the Durban Magistrate's Court for charges of fraud and they were each granted a bail of R5 000 and the matter was remanded to the seventh of July in the Durban Magistrate's Court," says KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala.
Gwala says Chetty and Pillay allegedly offered clients discounted rates for holidays, locally and abroad, but failed to deliver on their promises.
They've been linked to 14 counts of fraud in Chatsworth, Phoenix, Malvern, Town Hill, Tongaat and other areas.

"We are also appealing to other people who are victims of a similar scam to contact the investigating Officer Constable Durugiah on 082 334 8354."
