Durban High Court hears of efforts to save Sadia's life
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Details around some of Sadia Sukhraj's final moments were revealed in the Durban High Court yesterday, when an eye-witness who tried to help save the 9-year-old's life took the stand.
This as the trial of Sibonelo Mkhize, who stands accused of robbing Sadia's father of his car, driving off with the child and ultimately murdering her, got into its second day.
Naresh Singh was on his way to work when he stumbled upon the scene of the crash that ensued after the robbery.
Singh has told the court how he and another man at the scene had to work to free Sadia from the wreckage that morning as her leg had become stuck underneath the driver's seat.

They extricated her and then Singh took her in his arms and raced her to the end of the street, which was by then severely congested. He said the child was not moving at that stage and that she was bleeding profusely on her left hand-side.
Singh put Sadia into the back of a red Tazz. A woman who he says was screaming 'please help my child' jumped into the vehicle too. Singh asked the driver to take them to hospital and he rushed off.
A short while later, Sadia died.
