Durban goes greener with climate action plan

Durban's Deadline2020 Climate Action Plan to mitigate the impact of climate change has been launched.
It was adopted by Council last year.
Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda says it aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by the year 2030 - among other objectives.
"It implements smart electricity grids that enable bi-directional power flow and includes large renewable energy sources - ensuring that 70% of electricity supply by self-generated renewable energy 2050.

"Transforming our transport system with a target of 50 percent of citizens using public transport by 2030 - expanding the network of electric busses and to reduce private care drips by 50 percent."
He's announced several projects as part of the mission to make Durban greener.
"The installation of solar panels in some of the buildings and green roofs which reduce the temperatures buildings.
