Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) says it's investigating the death of a 12-year-old Durban boy who was shot and killed after his police officer father allegedly mistook him for an intruder.
The police watchdog says the man is understood to have been asleep in his Manor Gardens home on Sunday when he heard his son shouting for help.
The officer is said to have spotted someone at the window when he awoke.
He fetched his service pistol and fired shots towards the window.
