Durban cops get 10 years for corruption
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Two Durban police officers who took a bribe have been jailed for ten years.

Sergeants Musawenkosi Mabaso and Thulani Dlangalala were arrested three years ago after promising to release a suspected reckless and negligent driver in exchange for R7 500.
The pair had been sent to process the man - who had been detained at King Shaka International Airport.
The suspect is said to have phoned his father, who then paid the officers a portion of the amount, before alerting police.
The KZN NPA's Natasha Kara says the Hawks set up a sting operation for the handing over of the remainder of the cash.

"There is an outcry that corruption within law enforcement and public sector in general be dealt with harshly.
"The finalisation of this matter is indicative of how the NPA and the law enforcement agencies are tackling corruption committed by government officials.
"The members of society who assisted with alerting the police of the crime being committed are applauded. The NPA will continue to deal with such cases rigorously.”
They were found guilty by the Durban Commercial Crimes Court in March and sentenced this week.
