Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Two Durban police officers accused of bribery will be back in court next month.

They were arrested in a sting operation by members of the Hawks a week ago.
It's understood Constable Sinothi Mahlaba and Sergeant Bongumusa Mzobe arrested a man and his friend who were found in possession of counterfeit alcohol.

Hawks officials say the duo did not open a case but instead demanded cash from the two in return for destroying the evidence.
It's alleged Mhlaba and Mzobe received a R4000 payment, with a promise that the balance will be paid at a later stage.

They also took the pair's vehicle. The friends alerted the Hawks who set up the sting operation.
