Durban business are hoping to hear about an improved state of business and safety assurances in Thursday night's State of the Nation Address.
The Durban Chamber of Commerce's deputy president Gladwin Mashile says the country is facing severe socio-economic challenges.
He says President Cyril Ramaphosa has to address the many issues affecting business in order to boost investor confidence.
"We want the president to talk more on the July civil unrests. We know that the report is out, but we want to hear from the president what are the mitigation that he is going to use to make sure we are no longer going back to what we saw in 2021.
"So as a chamber we have five pillars we are actually pushing for, which are safety and security, identifying of priority catalytic projects, rapid provision of bulk services, we need to see infrastructure development budget allocation. We must restore investor confidence."
This evening's State of the Nation Address will take place at Cape Town City Hall.
It's the first time it being delivered outside of the Parliament building following a fire there last month.
