A suspected ATM bomber believed to be responsible for several attacks in Durban is back behind bars after evading authorities for more than a decade.

Mbambo and his alleged accomplices are said to have bombed ATMs in Greenwood Park, Pinetown and Hillcrest in 2007.

It's claimed they also fired at police officers during their rampage.
The Hawks say the gang was arrested by the Durban Organised Crime Unit that same year.
Their trial began in 2012.
But Mbambo absconded, prompting the court to issue an arrest warrant for him.
He was rearrested on Thursday after 11 years of evading authorities.
