Dube TradePort drops charges against alleged scammer
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Dube TradePort Corporation says it no longer intends to pursue legal action against a man who illegally bought land belonging to the public entity.
The corporation opened a case with the police recently over the sale in an alleged scam.
The land is earmarked for the development of an automotive supplier park in Illovo.
According to the entity, the person in question has agreed to cooperate.
Spokesperson Vincent Zwane says he claims he had no intention of committing a crime:
"The Illovo site is an integral part of a project aimed at attracting manufacturers with a particular focus on the automotive sector.
"Dube TradePort is currently in the process of acquiring the necessary environmental and planning approvals for the development of the site."
