Drugs worth R550 million go up in smoke
Updated | By Newswatch
Drugs seized during major police busts in Durban recently have been destroyed.

The South African Police Service says cocaine, heroin, mandrax and cannabis valued at more than R500 million were confiscated in raids in Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, the North West and the Free State.
SAPS Commissioner Fannie Masemola says police teams are working hard to tackle drug trafficking.
At the Durban harbour, more than 400 blocks of cocaine were found stashed in meat boxes in December.

In two other busts there, cannabis and tablets containing a central nervous system stimulant were seized.
Those were among the drugs destroyed at an undisclosed location by the SAPS on Wednesday.
Masemola has thanked members of the public for assisting investigators with tip-offs and urged them to continue providing information to the police.
