Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The State has recommended that Nicholas Ninow, the man accused of raping a 7-year-old girl inside the toilet of a DROS restaurant, be sent for mental observation at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.

The case is being heard in the Pretoria Magistrates' Court.
Defense lawyer, Rian du Plessis has told the court that Ninow has a history of mental illness.
He says his 20-year-old client has suffered severe depression and that he began abusing substances from the age of 14.
He says Ninow was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2013 and has also tried to take his own life.
Du Plessis says DNA tests have been finalised stressing that they are taking the case very seriously.
