Ninow has also been sentenced to five years each for possession of drugs and defeating the ends of justice.
In handing down sentence, Judge Mosopa said the evidence against Ninow was overwhelming.

Judge Mosopa says he doesn't believe Ninow is remorseful.
"The accused wrote a poem to the complainant and a letter to the family asking for forgiveness. The letter and the poem never reached the intended people until the current sentencing process."
"To me, that is not remorse, but regret, as the accused is aware that he's facing the prospect of a lengthy term of imprisonment," he said.
