Drivers stuck with unpaid fines, blocked from licence renewal - OUTA
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Non-profit group, OUTA, says it's been inundated with complaints from motorists who say efforts to renew their licences were blocked over traffic fines they didn't know about.

The organisation's Stefanie Fick believes in some cases, the Road Traffic Infringement Agency isn't issuing enforcement orders.
Motorists with unpaid fines won't be able to renew their vehicle or driver's licences.
Ficks says the reasons for the outstanding enforcement orders aren't 100% clear.

"In many of the cases, motorists were unaware of any outstanding infringement notices or unpaid fines.
She says AARTO apparently can not cope with administrative processes as it currently stands.
"OUTA asks how will they be able to cope with amendment act that will be rolled out nationwide, by July 2021 where the demerit system will add even more problems to the mix," she said.
