Double life sentence for Madadeni rapist
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
A
man has begun serving his double life sentence for a series of rapes he
committed in the Madadeni area.
The Madadeni Regional Court handed a 52-year-old man a double life sentence this week.
He is reported to have been in a relationship with the grandmother of an 8-year-old between 2014 and 2015, and would then repeatedly rape the child.
The NPAs Natasha Kara says the man would threaten the young girl if she reported him.
"Mthasli eventually confided in a teacher and the man was arrested. The state opposed bail but the court granted him bail."
Kara says while the man was out on bail, he entered into a relationship with an 11-year-old girl’s mother.
He also moved into their home.

"He raped the child whenever they were alone together and told the child he will kill her mother if she reported him. The child told the granny and the man was arrested,” says Kara.
“The man was sentenced to life imprisonment for each of the rapes. The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm and also that his name is registered into the national register of sexual offenders."
