Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Police reinforcements from all over KZN have been brought in to Pietermaritzburg after dozens of awaiting trial prisoners escaped from a SAPS truck this morning.

The vehicle had left New Prison with 45 suspects and was on its way to court when it was ambushed by a group of heavily armed men.
Authorities say they pointed guns at the police officers before forcing open the back of the truck.
