Disaster teams on alert in KZN amid weather warning
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
KwaZulu-Natal disaster teams have been placed on high alert following a level 2 weather warning for disruptive rainfall.

"According to the warning, the districts of Harry Gwala, uMgungundlovu, uThukela, Ilembe parts of uMzinyathi and the eThekwini Metro can expect disruptive heavy rains from this afternoon going into the evening," says Senzelwe Mzila from the Department of Cooperative Governance in KZN.
Mzila says teams have been dispatched to monitor areas that are prone to disasters.
The department has warned communities to continue being vigilant and cautious when crossing rivers or flooded walkways.

"According to the warning, intermediate weather conditions could lead to localised flooding in formal and informal areas and low-lying bridges.
"These conditions will make it difficult for those that are driving and thus motorists are urged to exercise utmost caution."
Mzila says anyone affected by bad weather conditions must report to their local councillor or to the nearest disaster management centre.
