Forecaster with the South African Weather Service Wiseman Dlamini says a level two warning for disruptive rainfall in KZN has been issued over the southern parts of KZN on Monday.

"Showers are expected this afternoon over KZN and 60% changes on other parts of the province. Tomorrow there will be an 80% chance of showers, mainly over the coastal areas and northern KZN; otherwise, 60%.

"At this stage, we e don't have any warnings for tomorrow and Wednesday."

Residents are urged to be cautious as disruptive rainfall could lead to localised flooding at settlements, low-lying roads and bridges.

Meanwhile, Charles Khumalo from Lifesaving South Africa has been going to primary schools in KZN to teach about water safety, especially during heavy rains.

"They have to check the water, you can use a stick to check how deep it is before they jump in and check if there is anything dangerous like stones. They must also check how strong the current is because it is not safe to swim. We are training people in the communities to get involved in the programme."
