Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Disaster management teams have descended on the northern KZN town of Ladysmith after heavy rains on Monday night left parts of the area underwater.

The SA Weather Service issued a yellow level two weather warning for heavy rains in the province.
The provincial Department of Cooperative Governance’s spokesperson, Siboniso Mngadi, says the town’s roads, including the N11 between Newcastle and Ladysmith, have been temporarily closed to mitigate risk.
Mngadi says some residents had to be rescued due to the floods.
