Disaster teams to assess Clairwood fire

Management Team is set to assess the damage caused in Clairwood in Durban
following the fire that destroyed over 200 shacks.

Over a thousand people have now been displaced after a fire that gutted around 250 shacks in Clairwood, south of Durban.
Ward councillor Protas Mngonyama says affected residents are on the side of the road with whatever belongings they were able to salvage.

He says residents had to be evacuated.

"They lost everything; we will wait for the assessment from the disaster team to see what resources they need to we can start the rebuilding.
"The fire overwhelmed everyone, everything burned down, and the situation is bad."
