Designated teams assigned on Elections Day: KZN police

Police in KwaZulu-Natal are confident that the General Elections will be incident free.
SAPS spokesperson, Jay Naicker says disruptions following several service delivery protests in parts of the province this morning, as special voting got underway, were dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
He says officers who would normally be off-duty or office-based - will be performing election-related duties so that other police functions are unaffected.
"Then over and above that - we have police officers that will escort the IEC officials, and observers during the election process.
Naicker says there are roving teams that will deal with any protest that may arise.

"If in eThekwini, for instance, we have a major issue - we can pull those teams from the neighbouring clusters swiftly," he adds.
A police officer has cast his ballot at Durban City Hall this afternoon as he will be on duty on election day.
"Tomorrow, I am packing my bags. I'm going to Entsikeni which is the deepest rural area [of KZN]," he said.
