Durban cartoonist, Nanda Soobben says the Centre of Fine Art, Animation and Design was targeted by robbers four times.

He says this was after one of his cartoons involving President Jacob Zuma and the Gupta family was published in the Sunday Times.

"We had our server, and 16 Apple Macs stolen. At that time, I was going to have my book published. Because of this, we couldn't do our annual report," he says.

He's been speaking to Newswatch after the department announced it was in the process of sending a warning letter to the college - for illegally setting up campuses in other parts of the country.

It's also de-registered his institution based in Durban for not submitting documents on time.

Soobben says they did notify the department about the break-ins and provided case numbers as proof.

"We are in the process of doing the re-accreditation. It's like three files of paperwork that needs to be done. We are in the middle of it and they know we are in the middle of it yet they say we are running a fraudulent college. It seems so suspicious - I just don't understand it," he says.
