Deputy principal killed in full view of pupils

The Deputy principal of a Pietermaritzburg High school has been gunned down in front of a Grade 12 weekend class. The incident happened yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala, says two armed suspects entered the
classroom at Laduma High School.
Gwala says the female educator was shot multiple times before being declared dead on scene.
"She sustained gunshot wounds to the head, and the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. A case of murder has been opened. We are appealing to anyone who might have information, who might have seen the suspects, to contact their nearest police station," she said.

The Kwazulu-Natal Education department’s Muzi Mahlambi says the MEC of Education, Mthandeni Dlungwana, will with meet the affected family soon.
"It was brutal, brutal things that the learners had to experience. The MEC, upon hearing the news, quickly went to the school to see what had happened during the day," he said.
