Defiant Mkhwebane pays office a visit
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has paid a fleeting visit to the Chapter 9 institution's offices in Hatfield.

Mkhwebane on Monday said she planned on returning to work on Tuesday.
In a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa, she said the inquiry into her fitness to hold the office had completed its work - and there's no reason for her to stay away from the office any longer.
But this interpretation has been disputed by both the Office of the Public Protector and the Presidency.

Mkhwebane says she went to the office on Tuesday simply to keep her end of the bargain.
“But this twist of things is that now the leadership in the police service have told my protectors they can’t be held responsible. It is life, I am defiant, and unfortunately, they cannot allow them to be involved in such. Apparently, I was going to be blocked, and the police can't allow me to enter.”
The Section 194 committee found Mkhwebane guilty of misconduct and incompetence.
Last week, she said she planned on taking the report on review.
