De Lille: SA tourism on way of achieving its goals

The new tourism minister says South Africa is well on its way to achieving its goals of the tourism recovery plan.
Patricia de Lille says 5.7 million international visitors came to our shores last year.
She says the figure translates to a 150% increase on the previous year.
Speaking in Durban on Tuesday at the launch of the Africa Trade Indaba, the minister said the plan is based on fundamental but key aspects.

"This plan is set out of interventions to ignite the recovery and it is anchored in three strategic things, protecting and the need to relating supply, reigniting the mind and strengthening and enabling capabilities for long terms sustainability's"
She says tourism has also made a welcome contribution to South Africa's GDP at a time when the continent's and the country's economies are still recovering from the COVID pandemic.
"Last year the show grew over 5 000 delegates to Durban and it contributed R2.6 million to the GDP."
