A man accused of running a drug laboratory from a flat in uMhlanga Rocks is due in court today.
Police on Friday confiscated mandrax and heroine from the property with a street value of R1.5 million, after receiving information that the flat was being used to store and package drugs.
SAPS spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the 53-year-old man will appear before the Durban Magistrate's Court on charges of drug dealing and possession.
Zwane says, "When they searched the flat they found heroine as well as mandrax inside that was already packed. He was charged and all drugs were taken away for further analysis."
Police made another bust at the Durban Harbour. Officers found stripped car parts inside a shipping container due to be exported to Mauritius.
Zwane says the items, worth around R10 million, were being fronted as second hand car parts.
He says, "They found engines as well as other panels belonging to vehicles. Some of these engines were stolen from vehicles that were hijacked in and around Durban. No arrests have been made but our arrests are continuing."
There was a variety of car panels and engines from luxury brands like Mercedes, Audi, BMWs and Ford Rangers which are currently licensed, insured and financed.
