Dassenhoek mom, daughter arrested for allegedly killing relative

A mother and her daughter accused of killing their relative appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Monday.

A 25-year-old man who is the pair's son and brother - was allegedly murdered in their Dassenhoek home in July last year.


The victim was buried in a shallow grave.


KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the body was exhumed on Saturday after police received a tip-off.


"Police officers from KwanDengezi received information about a male who was 25-years-old. He was assaulted to death in July 2019 after being suspected of stealing at home.


"His body was buried in the yard without informing the police. The body was exhumed from a shallow grave and a case of murder was registered at the KwanDengezi Police Station. 


"Two suspects aged 41 and 71 were arrested and they appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court today," says Gwala.
