Dan Marokane assumes position as Eskom CEO

A new boss walked through the doors of Eskom’s Megawatt Park headquarters on Friday.
Dan Marokane's tenure begins as CEO of the crisis-hit power giant. He previously served as a senior Eskom executive for five years.
Marokane follows in the footsteps of more than a dozen CEOs who've served in this position over the past 15 years.
Ward chairperson of Eskom Mteto Nyati told Reuters that Marokane's will have to focus on two issues: one is to fix the current business, and the second is to reposition and restructure Eskom so that It can be relevant for the future.
Nyati added that he is confident that Marokane has the technical skills and leadership skills to pour Eskom out of its financial spiral and onto the road of recovery.

Eskom says Marokane will not speak publicly until he begins his tenure.
Two of the previous permanent appointees were Phakamani Hadebe and Andre de Ruyter.
