"Our country has been captured": Dali Mpofu

The EFF's Dali Mpofu says that it is no longer a matter of political affiliation, but rather an issue that affects South Africa as a whole.

"This kind of protest we are calling for now, is not an anti-ANC protest. It is about our country. It doesn't matter which party you support, what race you are or which church you belong to," he said.

Mpofu said that they are also calling on members within the ANC not to vote with their hearts when the motion of no confidence is tabled in Parliament, but rather use their heads.

"If members of the ANC, who agree that this must be stopped, vote with us when we move on the vote of no confidence in the next couple of weeks, they must not feel that they are moving against their party.

He said the ANC won the previous election and thus they are not trying to push the party out of power, but rather one man - President Jacob Zuma.

"If you are a democrat, you don't run away every time there is a decision against what you feel. We did what we could to prevent a Zuma regime.

Mpofu conceded for some South Africans the turning point might have been the Nkandla matter, whilst others might cite the Guptas as having had enough.

"The turning point for me was the Marikana massacre, as well as the expulsion of (former leader Julius Malema) of the ANC Youth League," he said.
