Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Democratic Alliance has confirmed that its chief whip in the Western Cape legislature, Lorraine Botha, has passed away.

It's reported Botha collapsed earlier today in the legislature.
The party says her death comes seven months after her husband Johan also passed away.
The DA sent its deepest condolences to the couple's children and family.
In another statement, Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said he was saddened by Botha's sudden death.
He says Botha will live in their memory forever as a kind and loving colleague who was admired equally by the caucus as well as members of other political parties.
Botha was elected to the Western Cape provincial parliament in 2014 and served on several committees.
