DA warns of high E. coli levels in Clare Estate tap water
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Residents in Clare Estate's Ward 23 are being urged to refrain from drinking the tap water following reports of contamination.

According to DA eThekwini councillor Alicia Kissoon, they became concerned after an increasing number of residents on O'Flaherty Road became ill after drinking tap water.
She says tests have revealed that the freshwater lines were contaminated with sewage.

It's alleged the contamination happened while repairs were being done to the water infrastructure in the area.
"Residents are urged to boil water after test results received three days after repairs in O'Flaherty Road showed E.coli levels 200% above normal standards in tap water.
"I have contacted heads of departments and I am aware of retesting however my concern is why residents were not alerted to this danger by eThekwini despite my communication to them.”
