John Steenhuisen told Parliament during Tuesday’s debate on the State of the Nation Address, that this will happen as soon as the ANC hands over its cadre deployment records.

The ANC on Monday lost its Constitutional Court bid to appeal a lower court ruling ordering it to hand over all its records and documents relating to cadre deployment.

The apex court has given the governing party a deadline of five days.

"If you had any doubt that the DA was the party to defeat the ANC you only need to look at the ruling of the constitutional court yesterday,” Steenhuisen told MPs.

“The DA expects the ANC and its newfound love for the rule of law to abide by this ruling, to expose its dirty cadre secret and how Mr. Ramaphosa’s committee laid the foundation and state capture and collapse that we have witnessed across the country."

"If they try to subvert the rule of law, we will make sure they are jailed for contempt of court in exact same way Mr. Zuma was," said Steenhuisen.

In her speech, ANC Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina has argued there is no truth to the narrative that Parliament has not heeded the recommendations of the Zondo Commission.

She said the governing party is also taking steps against the scores of party members named in the commission’s report.

"What we need to honestly acknowledge is that corruption has had a devastating impact on the ability of our state-owned enterprises to function for the purposes that they were meant for. We have just had another manager arrested in Eskom on the allegation of 1 million and we know that whenever they get arrested, we get blamed."
