DA to visit Durban hospitals following oncology report
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The DA in the province says it is going ahead with visits to hospitals at the centre of a damning oncology report today, despite not having permission to do so.
"I don't need their permission, according to the constitution we don't need their permission."
The Human Rights Commission report on the state of health in KZN found that there was a dire lack of proper care, especially for cancer patients.
DA shadow Minister of Health, Patricia Kopane and the party's provincial spokesperson for Health, Imran Keeka will visit Addington and Inkosi Abert Luthuli Central Hospitals.

Kopane says they were given permission for the oversight visit by the department earlier last week but last night, received an email from the department denying them permission to visit the hospitals.
"Whether they like it or not I will be in those hospitals where the patients are affected. What is it that they are hiding? The report is out already, the damning report against the department, she said."
Kopane's welcomed the fact that the report is being tabled in Parliament.
"It will be tabled before the portfolio committee in Parliament."
