DA reacts to tearing of Johannesburg election billboard
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The Democratic Alliance has issued a statement after a video emerged of an election billboard the party unveiled in Johannesburg's Braamfontein area yesterday being vandalised.
The billboard lists the victims of the Life Esidimeni tragedy, Marikana murders and pit toilet deaths under the headline 'The ANC is killing us'.
It's reported a number of people believed to be relatives of the Life Esidimeni victims, tried to take it down - as captured on video.
The banner has also been widely criticised on social media.
In a statement on their official website - the opposition party says "The billboard is about justice and commemoration for South Africans who became the victims of an indifferent, uncaring and cruel government and how so many other painful and horrific events should never have happened in a democratic South Africa."

The ANC has since lodged a complaint with the Independent Electoral Commission.
