DA in KZN calls for agricultural recovery programme
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal is calling on the provincial Agriculture Department to come to the aid of farmers and farmworkers affected by last week's riots.

Some farms were burned, livestock stolen, and agricultural businesses that provide supplies to farmers looted and destroyed.
The DA's Martin Meyer says it will be very difficult to return to full production without any intervention.

"The DA in KZN is calling on the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development to ensure a speedy recovery programme for the agricultural sector and to make sure that this recovery programme is done in a fair and equal manner.
"With the foot-and-mouth disease already being a big problem for us in KwaZulu-Natal province, it is important that agricultural rebuild programme is prioritised by the provincial government."
