Steenhuisen brought the DA’s Rescue SA Tour to Durban on Saturday.

He’s told supporter only a DA government can deliver economic freedom for all South Africans.

"If elections were held today, it would show that the DA would get 26% of the vote, the ANC 25% of the vote, the MK party 23%, and the IFP 16%. I’ve been involved in politics in this province; this is where I started my political career. And if you would have asked me 22 years ago whether I would ever live to see this day I probably would not have believed what you are telling me."

In the 2021 local government elections, the DA was voted into power in Umngeni Municipality, its first win in KZN.

Chris Pappas was installed as the municipal mayor.

Pappas is now vying for higher office as the DA’s premier candidate for the upcoming polls.

South Africans go to the polls on 29 May in what will be the most highly contested general election since 1994.
