Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The DA in KZN says it's appalled by the conditions displaced
flood survivors have been living in.
The party wants to take its concerns to the South African Human Rights Commission.
The DA recently conducted an oversight visit to nine temporary shelters, where hundreds of people have been staying after they lost their homes in the April floods.
Provincial leader Francois Rodgers says the conditions are appalling.

"Men and women and children, men have to shower outside what used to be the bin area and they were using a firehose that was kept there. Obviously, all the halls I went to, none of them have bathing facilities so people are having to use basins and buckets.
“So for that very reason, we currently lodging a complaint with the Human Rights Commission.”
Earlier this month, local government said it was ready to deliver over a-thousand temporary residential units to people, as part of the first phase of a programme to re-house those displaced by the floods.
