Culpable homicide case opened in Verulam crash involving child

A case of culpable homicide has been opened in Verulam after another another child has been run over by a car and killed near Ottawa.
Paramedics found the seven-year-old boy on the side of the R102 last night.
KZN VIP Medical and Rescue's Gareth Naidoo says they believe the child had been trying to cross the road.
"The cause of the accident cannot be confirmed at this stage. The child is known to be from the settlements nearby."
Meanwhile the three learners who died after being knocked over by a minibus taxi in Newlands earlier this month have been laid to rest.
Two of the funeral services were held in KwaMashu - while the other took place in Richards Bay.

The driver of the taxi was last week granted bail.
