Culpable homicide case opened after fiery R33 crash

Greytown police have opened a case of culpable homicide after a head-on collision left several people dead.
A minibus taxi and a car collided on the R33 between Greytown and Pietermaritzburg late Tuesday afternoon.

The larger vehicle caught fire and burst into flames, leaving passengers trapped inside.
"Four passengers were confirmed dead at the scene and others were taken to hospital for medical attention," says KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo.

"Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated."
