Creecy condemns murder of top game ranger
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, along with its park authorities, have vowed to work with law enforcement to apprehend suspects involved in the murder of Timbavati's head game ranger.
Anton Mzimba was gunned down and his wife injured outside their home near Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga on Tuesday.
The couple was transported to hospital where Mzimba succumbed to his injuries.
Minister Barbara Creecy has condemned the murder of Mzimba ahead of World Ranger Day.

“We urge all who are concerned about rhino poaching and the toll it is taking on our rangers to reach out to with concrete offers of help to the APNR management.
“Our duty now is to pick up ranger Mzimba's fallen spear and continue the battle in his name. There is no greater tribute we can pay to this man who made the supreme sacrifice for the conservation of our endangered species."
I’m deeply saddened to learn of the killing of Anton Mzimba who I spoke to in November. Committed and brave, rangers like Anton are central to the conservation of Africa’s fantastic wildlife. Those responsible must swiftly be brought to justice. My thoughts are with his family. W
