COVID-19 virus loves movement of people, warns Prof Karim

Professor Salim Abdool Karim says we need to realise that we are responsible for the spread of Covid-19 and that moving around increases the risk of transmitting the virus.
"The December vacation is going to lead to large amounts of movements of people. This virus loves the movement of people, it is how it spreads. With that movement we will see the virus going to every corner of the country.
It's the concern of the country's top advisor on Covid-19, Professor Salim Abdool Karim.
He says South Africa had to start preparing for second wave, before the first one was over.

"When I look at where we are, we have to change, we have to take our basic prevention measures more seriously. If we don't we will have only ourselves to blame."
On Monday night, President Cyril Ramaphosa introduced tighter restrictions for the festive season to help reduce the rise in coronavirus cases.
South Africa's new Covid-19 infections have breached the 10 000 mark in a single day.
