COVID-19: Two Home Affairs offices shut down

Two Home Affairs offices in northern KZN have had to close due to COVID-19 cases.

According to the department, an employee at the Empangeni branch tested positive on Tuesday.
The following day, another a staff member was confirmed to have contracted the virus at the Richards Bay branch.
The Richards Bay office was being used as an alternative branch after the Empangeni office was shut.

Home Affairs spokesperson, Siya Qoza, says staff at Empangeni were sent home while it was deep cleaned.
"We expect that from tomorrow the colleagues will be able to go back."
He says the colleagues that were exposed have gone for testing and came back negative.
"Which is why we will resume services tomorrow. We are now in the process of deep cleaning. We ask people who can, to go to the office in eShowe or wait for tomorrow," he adds.
