Covid-19 positivity rate remains low as full-time schooling returns

The Covid-19 positivity rate continues to remain low,
according to the latest statistics released by the National Institute of
Communicable Diseases (NICD).

On Tuesday, the NICD reported 3 085 new Covid-19 cases, which reflect an 8.8% positivity rate.
The latest statistics come as the Department of Basic Education gear up to allow all children in primary, secondary and special schools back in the class room from next week.
Cabinet approved the recommendation, saying that the whole country has now exited the fourth wave.

A further 195 Covid-19 related fatalities were reported, with 23 occuring in the past 24-48 hours.
The total number of Covid-19 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic, now stands at 95 288.
