COVID-19 equipment stolen from at least 50 KZN schools

At least 50 schools in KwaZulu-Natal have had equipment installed for the purpose of reducing the spread COVID-19 stolen since schools reopened at the beginning of June.
The provincial Education Department says water tanks, their taps, hand washing basins and handwashing stations are among the items that have vanished.

Spokesperson, Kwazi Mthethwa says schools in Gamalakhe, Umuziwabantu, Izingolweni and Umlazi are among those targeted by thieves.
He says several theft cases have been opened.
"We wish to thank the members of the community who have since made sure they recover some of the stolen goods and return it back to school who have already pressed criminal charges. We believe the police will do the right thing and apprehend the wrongdoers. "
