Covid-19 claims 90 lives in the last 24 hours

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says 90 people have lost their lives to Covid-19 related complications on Monday.

This brings the total number of deaths to 54 824 across the country.
Mkhize revealed this in his latest coronavirus report, released on Monday evening.
The province with the highest number of deaths is the North West with 33 new fatalities.
"Today, 90 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 14, Gauteng 5, Mpumalanga 6, North West 33, Northern Cape 13 and Western Cape 19 which brings the total to 54 825 deaths," reads the statement by the minister.

The provinces with no deaths are Free State, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Limpopo.
However, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State still have a high number of active cases.
The number of new infections recorded on Monday is at 1 129, which brings the total number of confirmed numbers of Covid-19 to 1 597 724.
The number of administered vaccines now stands at 395 230.
