Court to sentence Sindiso Magaqa’s murderer

Sentencing proceedings for one of Sindiso Magaqa’s killers
will be heard in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Monday.

Earlier in June, Sibusiso Ncengwa admitted to shooting the former ANC Youth League Secretary General in uMzimkhulu in 2017.
He also admitted to the attempted murder of three ward councillors, Jabulile Msiya, Nonsikelelo Mafa, and Nceba Mazongolo and damaging property as well as the unlawful possession of a firearm.

KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Ramkissoon-Kara says the case against Ncengwa's co-accused will continue later this year.
"The case against the co-accused Sbonelo Myeza and Mbulelo Mpofana returns to court on 06 October 2025 for trial. Mlungisi Ncalane, who was subsequently declared unfit to stand trial, is currently admitted to a psychiatric facility.”
