Court postpones bail application of Amy’Leigh accused

The three accused of kidnapping six-year-old Amy'Leigh de Jager last month will return to court next week for a ruling on their bail application.

In their affidavits read out in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate's Court today - Tharina Human and Laetitia Nel said they'd be able to afford bail of R10 000 each - while third accused Pieter Van Zyl told the court he'd be able to put up only R1 000.

In their affidavits read out in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate's Court today - Tharina Human and Laetitia Nel said they'd be able to afford bail of R10 000 each - while third accused Pieter Van Zyl told the court he'd be able to put up only R1 000.

 The state is opposing bail.

State prosecutor Luanda Ngcobo told the court that she'd had a conversation with Amy'Leigh's mother - who said the child is traumatised and too scared to go to school.

 The court heard Amy'Leigh often asks her parents if the kidnappers will take her again.

 The court also heard that, based on a doctor's report, the six-year-old is suffering from stomach ulcers brought on by the ordeal.
