A witness will testify that singer Kelly Khumalo accidentally shot footballer Senzo Meyiwa with a gun belonging to Longwe Twala.

This is what defence advocate Malesela Teffo, who represents four of the five accused in the high-profile murder trial, told the High Court in Pretoria as he wrapped up his cross-examination of forensic expert, Sergeant Thabo Mosia.

Khumalo and Twala were among the people in Khumalo's mother house in Vosloorus on Gauteng's East Rand when Meyiwa was shot in 2014.

Khumalo was in a relationship with Meyiwa.

Twala is the son of music producer Chicco Twala.

Teffo earlier put it to Mosia that the theory that Meyiwa was shot during a robbery was flawed as no valuables were taken.

"In this situation, isn't that strange that the so-called robbers only targetted one person with the intention to rob and then only at the end they robbed a life of one person out of eight people?"

But Mosia stuck to his version.

"The suspect and maybe the deceased were scuffling, never knowing what was going on. Then I can say it's possible that in a crime scene, one person can be shot and others survive."
