Rising cost of living impacting food donations, says KZN home for elderly

An organisation supporting the elderly in KZN says the rising cost of living is impacting food donations.
The Issy Geshen Home says it's seen a 30% decline in regular food donations in recent months.
Celeste Venter, who's with the Lamontville-based facility, says they're battling to provide meals to 69 elderly people.

She says there's a desperate need for more assistance:
"Nutrition is extremely important to the home, especially because the elderly because they suffer from chronic conditions like diabetes, and dementia.
"We've got our regular partner to partner with us, but we appeal to businesses and the public to either almost adopt an elder and support them financially or just regular food drops and donations to the home.
"Another expense that is extremely high every month is adult nappies."
