COSATU national strike: Teacher says overcrowding in classrooms concerning
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Local teachers say they are battling to cope with the current pupil-teacher ratio in many schools.
They say the current model does not work and have called on the KwaZulu-Natal Education Department to sort out the issue of overcrowding in classrooms.
Members of teachers union, SADTU made the call during yesterday's protest march in the Durban city centre.
The union's Nomusa Dube says the department has a system in place which refreshes or updates every three years.

She says when that happens though, the enrolment numbers usually increase significantly. Dube says the PPN system's out of touch with numbers on ground.
